Our Conservation Efforts

Saving our forests and wildlife one book at a time.

Caledonia Forest began as a dream—one that Linda Blackmoor nurtured for years, inspired by her love for wild places and her hope for future generations. Today, that dream has blossomed into a full-scale conservation brand, dedicated to preserving forest habitats across the United States, with plans to expand into Scotland by 2030. Through her writing and creative process, Linda has found a way to unite two passions: her love of storytelling and her commitment to saving wild spaces.

Every book purchased under Linda’s name goes straight to supporting Caledonia Forest’s mission. While some readers may have reservations about AI-generated art, even when based on the author’s personal work, this approach has allowed Linda to create and publish books at a faster pace. And why scale up production? Because each sale provides critical funds for protecting old-growth forests and establishing new habitats. Media outlets often highlight planting trees to capture carbon, but it’s our established, mature forests that do the lion’s share of healing for our planet—offering shelter for wildlife and effectively safeguarding biodiversity.

Each copy of Linda’s books typically nets between two and three dollars in profit. From there, one dollar is allocated to planting new trees, working towards our goal of planting one million by 2030. The other dollar is set aside to buy large tracts of forest in rapidly growing urban areas, ensuring we preserve habitats for the deer, bears, cougars, elk, foxes, coyotes, wolves, and countless other species that are increasingly pushed out by new housing and commercial developments. This displacement is one of the most pressing issues we face, as wildlife encroaches on human spaces simply because they have nowhere else to go.

By safeguarding these forests, we’re creating a network of Caledonia Forest parks that focus on habitat management and the promotion of old-growth conditions. The name “Caledonia” itself pays homage to Scotland’s ancient woodlands—forests that once covered the land but were nearly eradicated over time. Linda’s favorite place on Earth is Scotland, and she drew inspiration from its former glory. Just as Scotland lost so much of its natural canopy, the United States, too, has seen a dramatic decline in old-growth forests. Our mission is to restore what we can, ensuring these areas remain vibrant havens for wildlife.

In addition to all this, Linda invested her life savings to acquire 500 acres in Middle Tennessee from a logging company. By purchasing this land, she not only saved it from being cut down for timber, but also protected countless old trees already thriving there. Over the past three years, the wildlife population has flourished: once you could walk the property without spotting a single deer, but now, it’s a daily occurrence to see animals at every turn. Through careful land management—such as building a large pond and improving key habitats—Caledonia Forest has demonstrated just how quickly nature can rebound when given space and care. Linda lives full time on this private conservation park, overseeing its restoration, and envisions replicating these successes across the country. The ultimate goal is to preserve up to one million acres of forest, with future plans to open some of these private areas to the public for wildlife viewing and educational programs.

Ultimately, when you purchase one of Linda Blackmoor’s books—whether poetry, fantasy, or children’s tales—you’re doing more than enjoying a story. You’re contributing to the rewilding of landscapes and protecting habitats for countless living creatures. Yes, physical books consume paper, but we give back by planting more trees than we use and defending the forests that already exist. Linda has devoted her life to merging writing and conservation, believing that both storytelling and habitat restoration are vital for the health of our planet and the creatures that call it home. In supporting Caledonia Forest, you join her in that mission, helping create a more sustainable future—one book, one tree, and one forest at a time.
